This piece is a transmutation of my feelings about the overturning of Roe vs. Wade for our neighbours to the south. Initially, I thought I could keep my feelings about it in and continue to create work, but when I set out to draw a mermaid with nothing else in mind (so I thought) and she came out pregnant, I knew then that there was something deeper at play.
She truly has to be seen in person to appreciate her full beauty. I feel this my best painted piece to date and a true transmutation of my feelings around the unrest of women’s rights.
